About
Plain steps that match your phone
Spam calls are a settings problem first. These guides show exactly where the switches are on today’s iPhones, Android phones and landlines, and say honestly what each one can and can’t do.
Who makes them
How to Stop Spam Calls is made by PhoneShield, a service of Who Can It Be, LLC, which answers calls before a phone rings: known scam numbers are refused and everyone else is asked who they are. We also run isthisnumberascam.com, a free lookup of the numbers people report. The guides are free and have no ads.
How we check the steps
Every Settings path is checked against Apple’s, Google’s and Samsung’s own support pages and against the phones themselves, and each guide says which software version it was checked on. Phones change their menus with almost every update, so we re-check the guides after each major release. Last full check: October 18, 2026.
What we don’t do
- We don’t recommend or rank spam-blocking apps.
- We don’t claim any setting stops every spam call. None does, and we say where each one falls short.
- We name PhoneShield because we make it, and only after the free options.
